Puerto Rico Hurricane Maria

The island of Puerto Rico was recently hit by a very powerful category 4/5 hurricane.  The people of Puerto Rico are suffering and in need of immediate help.  As you have seen in the news, goods including medicines, sent from the mainland US, are not getting where they need to get  in time to avert tragedies.
Michelle, Pedro Javier and I are physicians in New York City  and since we are familiar with many of Puerto Rico hospitals as we worked in several of them during our early training years, we have joined a group of physicians both in Puerto Rico and the mainland US to coordinate the delivery of medical supplies and medications to various hospitals and physicians on the Island.
This is a person to person operation where the doctor in the mainland and the receiving doctor are in direct contact avoiding delays at the ports or airports.
As physicians of Puerto Rican descent, the current situation in Puerto Rico also affects us at a personal level.
Most of my family lives in PR, including both my parents, my grandma, two of my sisters, three nephews and one niece.
This is a photo of me with my grandma and sisters when we were little.
Two of them currently live in PR.

Above is a photo of my mom clowning around with my two nephews and niece.  The two kids to her right are my children, enjoying a visit to their abuela in Isabela, PR.
Below is my last visit to my grandma in Cidra, PR, and my dad's last visit to NY.

As you can imagine, I miss my family very much and worry about their wellbeing.  Michelle and Pedro Javier feel the same way.
Please help us in our mission to help our fellow US citizens in Puerto Rico stay healthy.  Every donation counts, no matter how big or small.

Myrna, Michelle and Pedro Javier.

Dear GoFundMe:
As per your request, the following information has been shared with donors:
1) I am Myrna Cardiel, MD
2) I am a physician raising funds to purchase medications and medical supplies to send directly to those affected by Hurricane Maria, more specifically doctors in Puerto Rico based on their needs.  They indicate what they need and I try to find a way to obtain what they need.  I also arrange delivery through donated flights (charter jets or military).  I am a veteran of the US Army.  I was a Major.
3)  I am not related to the doctors that receive those goods.  I am originally from Puerto Rico and I am trying to help my island of origin.
4) The funds will be used to treat patients affected by the hurricane.  Many of them are suffering a variety of diseases related to being in shelters or lack of access to clean water, exposure to insects or adequate nutrition.
5)  I am using the money to purchase supplies including medications, hospital/clinic supplies and in some cases other requested items such as mosquito repellent, mosquito nets, baby formula and diapers for babies and adults.

My beneficiaries (phsycians receving supplies) are many, many of them are located in remote areas, and currently have limited access to banks or stores/suppliers and therefore would not benefit from transferred funds at this time.

Physicians receving supplies are in many hospitals and towns on the island of Puerto Rico.

Thanks for your support,
